Scott C. Jones
Captain, United States Air Force Reserve
As you know, my mom (Penny Van Dyke) had been sick for a few years. I
visited last Christmas and found out from a friend of mine that the Air Force
was letting people off active duty selectively. I prayed, nearly begging God for
this to happen because it would be an answer to allowing me to spend time with
my mother and improve my family's quality of life. There was such an
overwhelming amount that had to occur for this to happen. For one thing, I had
to find a reserve unit that would hire me. Once that was taken care of then I
could applu to get to that unit. It was an amazing feat that all of it came
together and certainly not withour divine intervention. God allowed it all to
happen.
Meanwhile, five months before my mother's death, she was busily helping us look
for a place for us to live, get us settled and continually making new friends
with new people, as was her specialty. By the time we moved up here all we had
to do was hang out with a friend for three weeks while we sold one house, bought
another, and moved in. Christa quit her old job and in less than a month had a
new one and I was given orders in the squadron to work in the pubs until my
training date came. Two months later I was in Oklahoma. Mom was still
doing fine.
You know the rest of the story. You and your church
were there for us in the worst moment of our lives. Without even a delay
you were there. You prayed by my late mother's passing (September 2005)
and helped us with the details. Our family would still be lost without the
help you gave us.
Thank you so much.
