Anna and Rita Malpica
I have never regularly attended a church before. As a teen and young adult I had
always admired from afar the obvious happiness and friendship of those who
belonged to a church. I tried a few and learned about Jesus but I could not find
a place where I seemed to fit in.
After my daughter was born I began looking again. I wanted her to have that
thing, that happiness and friendship found in the church that I had never had.
I was looking through the phone book and Trinity was next on my list to try.
That Sunday seemed like most of the rest.
Later that week a friendly face arrived at my home,
thanking me for visiting. Asking if I had any questions. And offering a batch of
freshly baked cookies. Now that was different. So I visited again. I made an
appointment to meet with the pastor. and to find out more about this church and
the people there.
I began to notice that people generally sat in the same
places every week. I felt those regulars begin to spark conversation with us
making us feel even more welcome and comfortable.
The invitation to the dinner was the kicker. Yes the WOW dinner was where I
found out for sure that this was a church I could belong to. People of all ages,
eating, talking, laughing, sharing, like a family dinner. And then there was
singing. Oh finally, to be able to sing again.
How has the congregation of trinity shown love to us? By doing those things you
all do. Say hello every week. Bake cookies. Invite us to
participate. Miss us when we are not there. Pray for us when we
hurt. Answer our endless questions. Inspire laughter. Offer
friendship and open your hearts to us.
Through your loving actions we found that thing, happiness and friendship,
family, support, a home.
